Job Description

Fairmount Cemetery and Funeral Home is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Part-Time Service Director. This role is central to supporting grieving families, coordinating funeral and cemetery services, and assisting our Family Care Provider with essential details.

Job Summary
The Service Director plays a vital role in ensuring families receive a comforting and professional experience during funeral and cemetery services. Responsibilities include assisting with service coordination, event details, and administrative support to the Family Care Provider.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with weekends, evenings and holidays as needed

Location: On-site at Fairmount Funeral Home and Cemetery, with occasional off-site duties

Essential Functions
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for funeral and cemetery services, events, and tours.
  • Support in directing services and events with professionalism and empathy.
  • Monitor and report supply and linen inventory needs.
  • Assist the Family Care Provider with administrative tasks, including processing death certificates, obtaining permits, preparing service materials, and ensuring all details are complete.
  • Maintain and clean the vehicle fleet as needed.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to families and other departments.
  • Ensure consistent, punctual attendance and reliability.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree in Mortuary Science strongly encouraged.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach for prolonged periods (up to 12 hours).
  • Frequent use of phone, video calls, and computer systems.
  • Visual acuity for close, distance, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, or crouching.
Travel Requirements
  • Occasional travel using a personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
Work Environment
This position is based in a funeral home and cemetery setting, with duties performed both indoors and outdoors.

Pay Range: $21.00–$27.00 per hour
