Job Title: Paralegal, Public Benefits / Vulnerable Persons Unit

Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Paralegal to join our client to support essential legal services for vulnerable individuals within the community. This role contributes to ongoing casework by organizing documentation, coordinating client interactions, and ensuring smooth case progression within the Public Benefits and Vulnerable Persons Unit. The position requires strong attention to detail, an ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to providing compassionate support to individuals navigating complex legal challenges. This is a full-time, onsite contract role based in Jacksonville, FL.

Compensation:
$24–$26/hour

Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities of the Paralegal:

  • Case Preparation & Litigation Support- Assist attorneys and case handlers by preparing trial notebooks, drafting legal documents, organizing evidence, maintaining case files, and ensuring all materials are complete and accurate for hearings and court proceedings.
  • Client Interaction & Communication Coordination- Schedule hearings, client meetings, and internal appointments; prepare and send client correspondence; assist individuals not accepted as clients by offering guidance and referral resources.
  • File, Calendar, & Application Management- Maintain electronic and physical case files, oversee application logs, manage calendars for multiple case handlers, and support file openings, closings, and internal case routing.
  • Administrative & Operational Support- Process accounting requests, manage incoming and outgoing mail, track grant-related data, enter information into case management systems, and utilize interpreter services when needed.
  • Cross-Unit Collaboration & Community Support- Stay informed on acceptance criteria for various legal units, facilitate internal referrals, and engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including older adults, people with disabilities, and those with limited English proficiency.

Qualifications and Skills for the Paralegal:

  • Completion of a paralegal training program, relevant legal studies program, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on legal support experience.
  • At least two years of experience working within a civil law office or similar legal environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and electronic case management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and support multiple case handlers.
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations, including individuals with disabilities, immigrants, and those with limited English proficiency.
  • Bilingual skills—especially Spanish—are beneficial.
  • Familiarity with public benefits programs and/or Social Security Administration processes is preferred.
