Walmart Creative Studio (WCS)  is the in-house creative agency for Walmart, dedicated to building breakthrough, omnichannel brand design systems that are as effective as they are distinctive.

Overview:

We’re looking for a powerhouse illustrator who’s also a sharp designer — someone who can think big, draw boldly, and design beautifully.

This role leads the creation of seasonal, omnichannel visual identities that are expressive, culturally resonant, and strategically sound. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in graphic design and art direction, with the ability to craft compelling visual systems and guide world-building ideas from concept through execution.

The right candidate should have a versatile illustration portfolio that showcases a wide range of styles and techniques — from character work to pattern to storytelling. Bonus points for experience working with 3D, motion, and external artist partners. This is a role for a creative who’s hands-on, collaborative, and ready to lead with both vision and craft.

This is a full-time, non-remote role based out of our Los Angeles Studio located in Playa Vista.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaboration : Ideate, create, and implement omnichannel seasonal design systems. Work with external artist partners to build temporary worlds that span across physical and digital channels.
  • Pursue ways that we can work better, faster.
  • Manage projects that are on-brief and polished, mitigating feedback, ultimately keeping workstreams on track.
• Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and consumer behaviors to inform design decisions and maintain our brand’s competitive edge.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality and craftsmanship throughout the design and implementation process, ensuring that the final store experience meets or exceeds expectations.
• Project Oversight: Manage high-profile design projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in illustration, graphic design, advertising, fine arts, or related field and 5+ years designing for digital and physical experiences in a senior role.
• Proven track record of creating successful omnichannel design systems.
• Exceptional portfolio showcasing design process and strategic thinking.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design tools and software including the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Slides, and Figma.
• Strong leadership – i.e. strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate external artist partners and connect across Walmart Creative Studio.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment leading design work.
• BONUSES: Working knowledge of HTML & CSS, After Effects, illustration skills, and experience with organic social.

The annual salary range for this position is $96,000.00-$186,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
