Position Summary...
The Group Director, Automation Engineering – Ambient will lead the future of automation in Walmart’s Ambient Distribution Centers. In this role, you’ll own the installation, ramp, and continuous performance driving the automation roadmap to transform our Regional Distribution Centers to deliver end-to-end value across Supply Chain and Store Operations. This role is at the heart of Walmart’s transformation, blending industry leading technology with operational scale to deliver unparalleled benefits.
This exciting opportunity will put you at the forefront of autonomy in retail logistics, shaping industry standards, and influencing global innovation. You’ll work closely with Walmart’s Supply Chain Operations team, Store Transformation, Tech & Product teams, and external technology partners to bring bold ideas to life.
This is an onsite role based in Bentonville, AR and will report to the VP, Ambient Automation Engineering; we are not considering remote applicants, but a full relocation package is available.
What you'll do...
- Deliver Walmart’s strategy for Ambient Regional Distribution Center Automation
- Lead project deployment and scale new innovations, ensuring seamless integration into Walmart’s DC and Transportation Operations
- Drive flawless installation and safety compliance, setting benchmarks for industry-leading standards
- Partner with external tech innovators to accelerate adoption
- Champion innovation to enhance speed, cost efficiency, and customer experience
What You’ll Bring... - Expertise in automation systems, including automation storage and retrieval, autonomous mobile robots, and automation safety landscape
- Proven ability to scale emerging technologies from pilot to enterprise-level deployment
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with experience influencing cross-functional teams and external partners
- Strategic thinker who can translate innovation into operational excellence
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Automation, and/or Robotics preferred

The annual salary range for this position is $195,000.00 - $370,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 8 years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area. Option 2: 10
years’ experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
6 years’ supervisory experience.
