Job Title : Yard Coordinator

Pay Rate: $21/hr.

All Shifts available

Benefit : Medical, Dental, AD&D

The Yard Coordinator is responsible for efficiently coordinating the movement, placement, and inspection of inbound and outbound trailers carrying fresh fruit. This role ensures proper trailer positioning to support loading and unloading activities, maintains accurate yard inventories, and upholds safety and quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Trailer Coordination & Yard Management: 

• Manage and monitor the arrival, movement, and departure of fresh fruit trailers in the yard. 
• Assign and direct yard goats or drivers for trailer movement. 
• Ensure correct trailer placement at yard according to planning and schedule. 
• Maintain real-time trailer inventory and yard map. 
• Prioritize trailer movement based on unloading for receiving and scholar. 

Fresh Produce Handling: 

• Ensure trailers are ready for receiving and scholar unloading. 
• Communicate with the fresh scale house and planning and scheduling team to prevent delays that could compromise product freshness. 
• Verify trailer condition before and after loading. 

Documentation & Communication : 

• Yard checks, and yard moves accurately to receiving and scholar. 
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, fresh scale house, receiving leads, scholar leads, planning and scheduling team, drivers, and carriers. 
• Report any discrepancies or issues (e.g., mixed loads, trailer damage, product on hold). 

Compliance & Safety : 

• Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines 
• Enforce yard safety protocols, including speed limits, PPE use, and pedestrian safety. Coordinate with supervisor for trailer or equipment issues. 

Qualifications : 

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate degree a plus). 
• Minimum 2 years of experience in yard operations, logistics, or produce handling.
• Familiarity with perishable freight handling and cold chain logistics. 
• Strong communication and organizational skills. 
• Basic Microsoft Office, or RF handheld devices. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Bilingual (prefer Spanish) 

Working Conditions: 

• Outdoor/yard environment exposed to varying weather conditions. 
• May involve early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday shifts. 
• Physical activity includes walking, standing, and occasional lifting to 50 lbs. 

Preferred Skills/Certifications: 

• Forklift or yard tractor certification. 
• Experience with fresh produce quality standards.
