Position Summary:

The Wellness Coordinator will support the mission of CT State Community College – Housatonic Campus by working collaboratively with the Director of Counseling and Wellness to coordinate, promote, and implement campus-wide mental health and wellness programming. This position is responsible for organizing and facilitating educational events, wellness initiatives, outreach activities, and awareness campaigns to foster a healthy, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.  The Wellness Coordinator will contribute to student retention and student success by planning and coordinating the semester wellness fair with internal and external partners, tabling events including sexual misconduct and domestic violence, and providing holistic outreach which includes conducting surveys and promoting counseling services which include Timely Care. 

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Counseling and Wellness or other Administrator, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for providing necessary services to support student needs, outreach, and holistic programming through effective performance in these essential duties:

  • Assist the Director of Counseling and Wellness in the planning, coordination, and implementation of mental health and wellness programs for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Organize and promote events such as wellness workshops, mental health awareness weeks, resource fairs, and self-care activities.
  • Promote Counseling and Wellness Center services and Timely Care (virtual mental health and wellness services) through digital, print, and in-person outreach strategies.
  • Develop relationships with local community agencies and organizations to connect students with appropriate off-campus wellness and social service resources.
  • Coordinate logistics and support for events, including space reservations, materials preparation, setup, and teardown (requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs).
  • Lead student engagement efforts related to wellness, including peer education programs, student ambassador coordination, and targeted outreach.
  • Maintain records of programming activities and support data collection for program evaluation and reporting purposes.
  • Must be able to work administratively with purchasing and finance department to develop purchase requisition and vendor contracts
  • Collaborate with college departments (e.g., Student Activities, Academic Affairs, Accessibility Services) to integrate wellness into the broader student experience.
  • Stay current on best practices in college mental health promotion, wellness education, and culturally responsive engagement.
  • Maintain organization of the Counseling and Wellness educational supply inventory.
  • Must be able to lead and delegate work study students and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services, Public Health, Education, Psychology, or a related field.

Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following: 

  • One or more years of relevant experience in program coordination, wellness, or outreach services.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and support diverse student populations.
  • Must be able to lift and move event materials and supplies up to 50 lb.

Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a college or university setting.
  • Familiarity with mental health and wellness topics affecting college students.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and referral networks.
  • Bilingual skills or cultural competence in working with multilingual/multicultural populations.

Salary:

$39.44 hourly.
