INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I- INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION / SACRAMENTO HEADQUARTERS

The reporting location for this position is Headquarters in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the IT Supervisor II  in the Web, App and Data Services Section.  

This position is responsible for the administration of databases, ETL Processes, the design of GIS architectures, and providing software support. The primary responsibilities of the role lie within the Software Engineering and Data Administrator technical domains. The incumbent will provide GIS technical services and support for the Enterprise GIS environment, encompassing areas such as architecture and systems analysis, solutions architecture and development. The role involves both independent work and collaboration with a core group of Systems Programmers/Specialists, providing support on mission-critical systems software.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

• Expert-level knowledge of and experience in Enterprise software production operations, Windows server and SQL server technology, GIS platforms, geodatabase design, and database design.

• Functional knowledge of geospatial applications and services.

• Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills.

• Leadership skills necessary to serve in lead capacity on larger/complex technology efforts.

• Ability to apply knowledge to solve the most complex technical problems.

• Ability to utilize sound technical and analytical judgment to work independently within existing

• policies and general procedures, researching problems and developing new solutions and methods.

• Ability to network and interface effectively with technical personnel and management across organizations.

• Ability to effectively communicate complex problems and solutions in language understandable to both technical and nontechnical staff.
