Skid Steer Equipment Operator

Charlotte, NC

Sport Court Carolina is a family-owned company specializing in high-quality game court construction for over 15 years serving customers throughout North and South Carolina.

We are looking for a dependable and experienced Skid Steer Operator to join our construction team! The operator will be responsible for safely maneuvering skid steer loaders to support various phases of construction projects including site preparation, grading, excavation, material handling, and cleanup. This role requires a strong understanding of construction site operations and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience operating skid steer equipment in a construction setting required
  • Ability to use laser grader and other attachments
  • Valid driver’s license required, experience driving truck/trailer
  • CDL and heavy equipment certification preferred
  • Familiarity with site construction protocols and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site layouts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of team
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor conditions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate skid steer loaders to assist with excavation, grading, trenching, and material movement.
  • Load and unload construction materials such as gravel, soil, concrete, and debris.
  • Support site preparation activities including grading and setting of anchors.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
  • Work closely with site supervisors and other equipment operators to meet project timelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
  • Follow blueprints, site plans, and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Update daily log with progress photos and statements.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor construction sites with exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Possibility of weeklong travel
  • May require overtime, weekend work, or extended hours depending on project demands
  • Use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, tec.) is mandatory
