**About the Role** Uber started by transporting people from place to place. It now transports nearly anything a customer could want or need, on-demand. Grocery & Retail is one of the largest growth bets for Uber, bringing on-demand grocery delivery to customers of Uber Eats around the world. You would be joining an exciting engineering team on Uber Grocery, focused on building the best-in-class customer experience. Our team is responsible for building the end-to-end Grocery shopping experience that enables our customers to discover and shop for the merchants and items that they know and love. We're building next-generation platforms and services that improve the scale and reliability and enable us to deliver advanced consumer and shopper experiences. What the Candidate Will Do ---- 1. Lead projects across multiple engineers 2. Help architect the future of the Grocery and Retail Customer Experience to allow for seamless scalability across large catalogs 3. Deliver high quality, performant code that extends the capabilities of the Grocery and Retail Customer Experience 4. Partner with stakeholders across a dozen teams to align, build, coordinate, and release highly impactful features 5. Mentor more junior engineers on best practices ---- Basic Qualifications ---- 1. 5+ years of BE experience designing and shipping projects at scale 2. Experience working on production critical code bases that are used by 10s of millions of users monthly 3. Experience on product teams building highly performant products 4. Experience in latency optimizations and solutions that are outside the box 5. Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go) ---- Preferred Qualifications ---- 1. PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
