Meter Reader 

Pay: $17.85

Location: Pasco County, FL

Schedule: Full-time | Outdoor & field-based role

About the Role

Join our team as a Meter Reader with Pasco County Utilities! This role is responsible for reading and recording water meter data, completing service orders, and helping ensure accurate billing for our customers. Training is provided, and this position offers a career path for advancement to Meter Reader II and III based on performance and experience.

What You’ll Do

• Read and record water meters on assigned routes
• Complete service orders (turn-ons, turn-offs, disconnects)
• Check meters for accuracy, tampering, or damage and report issues
• Remove brush/dirt from meter boxes as needed
• Support investigations related to usage, billing, or customer concerns
• Walk 8–15 miles daily in all weather conditions while completing routes

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2 years of experience using handheld or laptop devices in the field
• Strong communication and basic math skills
• Comfortable working outdoors and walking long distances
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license

Physical Requirements

• Lift, move, push, or pull up to 30 lbs (heavier items with equipment or assistance)
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and walking
