Location: Carmel, IN (On-site, Full-time)
Salary: $65,000–$75,000, depending on experience
Our client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter for an on-site position in Carmel, Indiana . This is a full-time role responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans while maintaining compliance with agency guidelines and internal policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable working in a collaborative office setting.
This role requires recent experience with Conventional loans . Non-QM and Government (FHA/VA) experience is a strong plus. Candidates must be proficient in Encompass .
Underwrite Conventional residential mortgage files in accordance with FNMA/FHLMC guidelines
Analyze income, assets, credit, and collateral to assess loan eligibility and risk
Review and clear conditions in a timely and accurate manner
Communicate clearly with processors and loan officers to facilitate smooth closings
Maintain a consistent pipeline and meet required service-level standards
Stay up to date on investor, agency, and regulatory changes
Support internal team discussions on process improvements and file quality
2–4 years of recent mortgage underwriting experience required
Strong knowledge of Conventional guidelines
Non-QM and Government (FHA/VA) underwriting experience is a plus
Encompass experience is required
Detail-oriented with strong time management and documentation review skills
Effective communicator with a team-first mindset
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Carmel, IN
Candidates must have recent front-line underwriting experience
This role is not intended for processors or individuals seeking to re-enter underwriting after an extended gap
