Job Summary:

We are looking for a quick-study, change promoter, and aspiring Linux-savvy database administrator who is passionate about technology and eager to grow. This entry-level role supports FlexTrade’s OEMS platform, FlexONE, a state-of-the-art, fully integrated Order and Execution Management System. The ideal candidate is comfortable working on the Linux command line, understands the importance of backups and documentation, and is committed to learning and following operational best practices.

You will be responsible for maintaining the MySQL database infrastructure running on RedHat Linux. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Database backup and recovery. (backups taken and verified before any changes)

• Follow change management protocols, including creating and updating tickets before performing work.

• Maintain clear documentation of procedures, changes, and troubleshooting steps.

• Performance monitoring and tuning.

• Query plan review and assist in security audits.

• Help to perform major and minor version upgrades.

• Collaborate with developers on issues and new development scripts in python and bash/zsh.

Skills/Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of MySQL database administration experience, or some other Relational Database.

• Basic command-line skills in Linux (RedHat preferred); ability to navigate and automate tasks.

• Basics in troubleshooting issues and determining root causes.

• Basics with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and change control processes.

• Willingness to learn and adhere to IT best practices (e.g., rollback plans, peer reviews, version control).

• Basic scripting in Python and Bash/ZSH for automation and monitoring.

• Candidate must be willing to participate in an on-call weekend rotation.

Desirable Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field.

• Experience with MySQL 5.7 or 8.0 or another relational database.

• Experience in MySQL replication is a plus but not a requirement.

• Experience with Git or other version control systems is a plus but not a requirement.
