Job Description
Montage Marketing Group is seeking an Animator/Motion Graphics Designer to join our team and provide onsite support to a federal government agency located in the Washington, DC area. The Animator/Motion Graphics Designer provides full spectrum animation support, that would play a vital role in helping to translate complex scientific research into clear, compelling visual stories that resonate with the public, government entities, educators, partner organizations, and the news media.
This position integrates data visualization, branding, public affairs content, and digital storytelling to communicate the Agency’s mission and research in an impactful and accessible way. The role requires exceptional communication, organization, adaptability, and time management skills to successfully manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. This individual will play a key role in enhancing communications with internal and external audiences in support of the Agency’s mission.
This position is contingent upon contract award and will require 5 days/week onsite in Alexandria, VA. The salary for this position is $80,000-$84,000/year.
Key Responsibilities - Understand strategic communication objectives and conceive and recommend appropriate productions.
- Provide advice on effective media use for communicating messages to intended audiences.
- Ensure all products for internal and external use follow all Agency branding guidelines and are reviewed by Agency branding team.
- Work with Agency teams to plan and develop video programs by transforming communications campaigns/ideas and complex science into production ideas requiring the concepts, determining format, approach, content, and presentation level.
- Use digital asset management systems to maintain and archive images/multimedia and permission documents.
- Apply creative problem‑solving skills to develop high‑quality multimedia products, presenting scientific content through innovative and visually compelling methods.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of visualization best practices and digital storytelling techniques to support branded communications and public affairs content.
- Interpret complex research and translate sophisticated scientific concepts into clear, engaging, and visually accessible narratives.
- Collaborate effectively with producers, editors, and researchers to ensure cohesive and accurate content development.
Qualifications - A minimum of 3 years’ experience in motion graphic design.
- Extensive experience creating 2D and 3D animations, motion graphics, and visual effects using industry‑standard tools such as Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya, or comparable software.
- Demonstrated mastery of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop for high‑quality animation and design work.
- Prior experience working with federal agencies or government clients is a strong asset.
- Strong creative problem‑solving abilities applied to visually driven communication challenges.
- Proven ability to interpret, simplify, and visualize complex scientific concepts through clear and engaging animated content.
- Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Design, Visual Communication, or a related field, preferred.
- Background in producing scientific, technical, or educational animations for diverse audiences, preferred.
- A robust portfolio showcasing technical or science‑focused animations and other highly detailed, precise visual work.
